New clinic set to offer health services for Virginia and surrounding areas
Virginia, Minn. – Critically needed dental, pharmacy, and Behavioral Health Services are now available to members of the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa in Virginia and the surrounding area, thanks to a new, full-service health clinic that celebrated with a grand opening ceremony on Monday afternoon in Virginia.
The clinic is located within two fully renovated storefronts on the 300 block of Chestnut Street in Virginia. It features four dental exam rooms, a full-service pharmacy, and a behavioral health clinic – with additional space for offices, meeting rooms, and future expansion.
Monday’s grand opening program welcomed band members, and community members, as well as city and state government officials. The ceremony consisted of a series of blessing songs, tobacco offerings, and the sharing of wild rice to give thanks for and ask for the well-being and care of staff and future patients. Following the ceremony, staff members gave tours of the clinic to show off the modern medical facilities and answer questions.

The clinic is open five days a week, Monday through Friday and is currently reserving services to band members and people affiliated with the band but administrators spoke about the possibility of opening services to the wider community in the future if scheduling allows.
The Virginia clinic joins two current clinics operated by Bois Forte in Nett Lake and Vermilion.
