Hibbing Celebrating with Iconic Animials and Family Fun
Families explored a collection of larger-than-life bears, moose, walleyes, and eagles placed on the lawn of the Hibbing City Hall Wednesday morning to help kick off the city’s America 250/Hibbing 133 Community Celebration.
The iconic animals, which will be on display for the next two weeks, represent animals associated with both the United States and Minnesota and were loaned to the city by the Minnesota Zoo in partnership with the Hibbing Foundation, St. Paul Foundation, and Minnesota Foundation, making it its first appearance in Northeast Minnesota, and are illuminated for a unique after-dark look.
In addition to the animal display, the event featured a full day of activities including food trucks, family activities, historical exhibits, City Hall Tours, live civic engagement with the City Council, and an Americana concert by the Hibbing City Band. It marks the official launch of Hibbing’s participation in America’s 250th anniversary while also celebrating Hibbing’s own 133-year history.
