Get Out the Vote Rally at the Iron Man Statue

After months of political campaigns, commercials, mailings, signs, and social media posts filling the airwaves, computer screens, and roadsides throughout the state and across Minnesota, the campaign season wraps up today as thousands of Minnesotans go to the polls for the 2026 midterms.

The results will determine state and local elections, which will change the direction of the political climate, including a new governor as well as control of the Minnesota House and Senate.

After several months, DFL organizers hosted a final get-out-the-vote rally Saturday afternoon at the base of the iconic Iron Man Statue in Chisholm. The rally featured local candidates running for seats in the state house and senate, as well as Trina Swanson, who is campaigning for the 8th Congressional District seat currently held by Republican Congressman Pete Stauber.

The rally featured brief political speeches, music and a collection of political signs but with most of the heavy lifting already done, the mood was relaxed, focused on camaraderie, and encouraging a last minute get ot the vote effort.
