A Smart Zoo Experience in Hibbing and Virginia
The Range is loved for its nature and wildlife, but lions, tigers, elephants, cobras, and leopards mixed in with a handful of t-rex and velociraptors is definitely a bit out of the ordinary for a parking lot in Hibbing.
The odd collection of animals is part of a traveling, family-friendly smart zoo known as the Wild Adventures: A Smart Zoo Experience, which features hyper-realistic animatronic animals as well as immersive virtual reality and kid-friendly play zones.
The zoo is sponsored by I Heart Cookies, which sells their fresh baked treats as the price of admission for the zoo experience for about $5.00, combining the child-friendly experience with ready-to-eat dessert.
According to exhibit manager Treyton Cole, the company travels extensively through the South and Midwest states, concentrating on smaller cities, making a stop each day in a new town.
The zoo will be in Virginia on Tuesday at the Iron Trail Motors Event Center before traveling to Hermantown on Wednesday and Superior on Thursday.
While sponsoring a traveling animatronic zoo as a way to sell cookies might be a bit unusual, the cookies themselves……pretty darn good.
