Welcoming Fall With Music, Food, Fun and Faith

Fall is definitely in the air across the region, and nowhere was it more evident than the annual Catholic Lumen Christi Mission Field Oktoberfest held in Virginia and the Holy Family Mission Field’s annual Fall Festival in Hibbing.

Both festivals serve as fundraisers for the churches, and the Oktoberfest in Virginia turned into a full day of fun, starting with an outdoor Mass celebrated by Bishop Daniel Felton before attendees headed out on a fun run, which led into a day of games for both children and adults, including a stein-holding contest, a car show, food, a petting zoo, and live music.

Morning rain left the bounce houses filled with water, but that didn’t slow down a few brave adventurers like Ella Toma from enjoying the attraction during the annual Holy Family Mission Field Fall Festival in Hibbing.

The Holy Family version was a little more low-key but not short on fun, with bounce houses, children’s games, raffles, craft items, and live music.

The Mission Fields combine resources across regions with Lumen Christi, including Holy Spirit Parish in Virginia, Resurrection Church in Eveleth, St. Joseph’s Church in Gilbert, and Our Lady of Hope Parish of Aurora, Hoyt Lakes, and Biwabik, and including Marquette Catholic School in Virginia.

The neighboring Holy Family Mission Field includes Blessed Sacrament Parish in Hibbing, St. Joseph’s Church in Chisholm, and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Buhl, along with the Assumption Catholic School
