Everything from Pumpkins to Tractor Pulls For a Day of Fun
Side Lake ushered in the fall season on Saturday with the annual Fall Festival held at the Side Lake Rec Center.
The free family event is one of a series of seasonal festivals Side Lake hosts, which also includes a summer and winter festival. This year’s event included a large pumpkin patch where children could search for and keep their favorite pumpkin. Enjoy a train ride through the grounds. Meet animals at the petting zoo or try out a pony ride, in addition to having fun with games, music, and food, even roasting marshmallows over a campfire.

This year’s festival saw a new activity introduced. A pedal-powered tractor pull contest attracted everyone from four-year-olds to adults to try out the farm-themed fun, with trophies awarded to the top three finishers in each age group, along with a chance for the winners to compete in the state contest next summer.
The Side Lake Festival is sponsored by French Township and organized by local community volunteers.
