Chisholm Celebrates the Medical and Baseball Legend

Chisholm came together Saturday to celebrate the city’s annual Doc “Moonlight” Graham festival with a parade, car show, street dance, fireworks, and a baseball game featuring the Field of Dreams Ghost Players.
The festival is named after Doctor Archibald “Moonlight” Graham, who served the Chisholm community for 50 years following a brief, legendary baseball career. Dr. Graham played just one inning of Major League baseball for the New York Giants in 1905 and never had the chance to bat. He moved to Chisholm in 1911, serving as the school doctor from 1919 to 1959.

Graham’s baseball career, while extremely brief, was featured in W.P. Kinsella’s novel Shoeless Joe and was adapted into the iconic film Field of Dreams. Chisholm celebrates Doc Graham’s legacy as a local humanitarian and as a baseball history icon.
The Doc “Moonlight” Graham Festival started in 2011, and it leans heavily into the baseball iconography made famous in Field of Dreams.
