Children and Families explore Working Machines in Hibbing
Big trucks, tractors, heavy equipment, and unusual rides filled the parking lot of the Hibbing Memorial Building Thursday evening for the city’s annual “Big Truck Night”.
The free community event gave children and families the opportunity to get an up-close and hands-on look at some heavy equipment used throughout the city and the region.
Local businesses, organizations, Hibbing city departments, and community members came together to bring a large selection of vehicles and equipment for families to explore. Kids were able to check out, climb into, and play around the vehicles while learning about how they work and what they are used for.
Hibbing Parks and Recreation Recreational Programmer Riley Story said, “We’re so excited to bring this event back for the kiddos in our community-and the parents, too”
“We have some incredibly generous companies, businesses, and individuals willing to bring out their equipment and some really fun vehicles for everyone to see. Best of all, it’s completely free, so families can come and enjoy the evening, climb into some of the trucks they see around town and meet the people who get to drive them.”
Attendees found vehicles of different shapes, sizes, and purposes on display.
Carrie Nelson of Yoder Building Supplies said: “We wanted to be involved in Big Truck Night because we love opportunities to get out into the community and give families a chance to see some of the equipment we use every day.”
“When it came time to decide what to bring, our new boom truck was an easy choice. We thought it would be something fun and impressive for kids and adults to see up close.”
